AC.140, 창2:18, '사람이 혼자 사는 것이 좋지 아니하니'(AC.138-141)

18절, 여호와 하나님이 이르시되 사람이 혼자 사는 것이 좋지 아니하니 내가 그를 위하여 돕는 배필을 지으리라 하시니라 And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him a help as with him.

‘그를 위하여 돕는 배필’(a help as with him)이 사람의 본성(man’s own)을 의미한다는 것은 이 본성의 본질(nature)로부터, 그리고 이어지는 내용으로부터 분명히 알 수 있습니다. 여기서 다루고 있는 이 교회 사람을 주님이 좋게 보셔서 그에게 어떤 본성이 허락되었는데, 그게 마치 그의 본성처럼 보이는 그런 것이어서 이르시기를, ‘그를 위하여 돕는 배필’이라 하는 것입니다. That by “a help as with him” is signified man’s own, is evident both from the nature of this own, and from what follows. As however the man of the church who is here treated of was well disposed, an own was granted him, but of such a kind that it appeared as it were his own, and therefore it is said “a help as with him.”
