AC.142, 창2:19-20, '여호와 하나님이 흙으로 각종 들짐승과'(AC.142-146)

19-20절, 19여호와 하나님이 흙으로 각종 들짐승과 공중의 각종 새를 지으시고 아담이 무엇이라고 부르나 보시려고 그것들을 그에게로 이끌어 가시니 아담이 각 생물을 부르는 것이 곧 그 이름이 되었더라 20아담이 모든 가축과 공중의 새와 들의 모든 짐승에게 이름을 주니라 아담이 돕는 배필이 없으므로 And Jehovah God formed out of the ground every beast of the field, and every fowl of the heavens, and brought it to the man to see what he would call it; and whatsoever the man called every living soul, that was the name thereof. And the man gave names to every beast, and to the fowl of the heavens, and to every wild animal of the field; but for the man there was not found a help as with him.

‘짐승, 가축’(beasts)은 천적 애정을, ‘공중의 새’(fowls of the heavens)는 영적 애정을 의미하는데요, 다시 말씀드리면, ‘짐승’(beasts)은 의지에 속한 것을, ‘새’(fowls)는 이해에 속한 것을 의미한다는 말씀입니다. ‘아담이 무엇이라고 부르나 보시려고 그것들을 그에게로 이끌어 가시니’(To bring them to the man to see what he would call them)는 그로 하여금 그것들의 퀄리티를 알게 하심이며, 아담이 ‘그들에게 이름을 주니라’(giving them names)는 그가 그것을 알고 있었음을 의미합니다. 그러나 주님이 그에게 주신 선에 속한 애정의 퀄리티와, 그리고 진리에 관한 지식의 퀄리티를 그가 알고 있었음에도 불구, 그는 여전히 자신의 고유 본성으로 기울어졌는데요, 이를 전과 같이 ‘아담이 돕는 배필이 없으므로’(there was not found a help as with him)처럼 같은 말로 표현하고 있습니다. By “beasts” are signified celestial affections, and by “fowls of the heavens,” spiritual affections; that is to say, by “beasts” are signified things of the will, and by “fowls” things of the understanding. To “bring them to the man to see what he would call them” is to enable him to know their quality, and his “giving them names” signifies that he knew it. But notwithstanding that he knew the quality of the affections of good and of the knowledges of truth that were given him by the Lord, still he inclined to his own, which is expressed in the same terms as before—that “there was not found a help as with him.”
