AC.118, 창2:14, '셋째 강의 이름은 힛데겔이라'(AC.118-121)

14절, 셋째 강의 이름은 힛데겔이라 앗수르 동쪽으로 흘렀으며 넷째 강은 유브라데더라 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel; that is it which goeth eastward toward Assyria; and the fourth river is Euphrates.

‘힛데겔 강’(The river Hiddekel)은 이성(理性, reason), 즉 이성에 속한 명민함, 통찰력(the clearsightedness of reason)입니다. ‘앗수르’(Asshur)는 합리적 마인드(the rational mind)입니다. ‘앗수르 동쪽으로 흐르는 강’(the river which goeth eastward toward Asshur)의 의미는, 이 이성에 속한 명민함이 주님으로부터 속 사람을 통해 이 합리적 마인드 안으로 흐른다는 것입니다. 여기서 이 마인드는 겉 사람에게 속한 것이지요. ‘프라’(Phrath), 즉 ‘유브라데’(Euphrates)는 기억-지식인데, 이는 종단(終端, the ultimate)이나 경계(boundary)를 말합니다. The “river Hiddekel” is reason, or the clearsightedness of reason. “Asshur” is the rational mind; the “river which goeth eastward toward Asshur” signifies that the clearsightedness of reason comes from the Lord through the internal man into the rational mind, which is of the external man; “Phrath,” or Euphrates, is memory-knowledge, which is the ultimate or boundary.
