AC.105, 창2:9, '여호와 하나님이 그 땅에서 보기에 아름답고'(AC.102-106)

9절, 여호와 하나님이 그 땅에서 보기에 아름답고 먹기에 좋은 나무가 나게 하시니 동산 가운데에는 생명나무와 선악을 알게 하는 나무도 있더라 And out of the ground made Jehovah God to grow every tree desirable to behold, and good for food; the tree of lives also, in the midst of the garden; and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

‘생명나무’(The tree of lives)는 사랑과 사랑에서 비롯된 신앙이며, ‘동산 가운데’(in the midst of the garden)는 속 사람의 의지 안입니다. The “tree of lives” is love and the faith thence derived; “in the midst of the garden” is in the will of the internal man.

 

※ ‘사랑에서 비롯된 신앙’이란 신앙은 신앙인데 사랑에서 나오는 신앙, 사랑하기 때문에 신앙하는 가슴 신앙을 말합니다. 지식에서만 나오는 신앙, 즉 머리 신앙이 아니고 말입니다.

 

말씀에서 ‘마음’(the heart)이라고 하는 이 의지는 사람과 천사한테 있어 주님의 주된 소유(the primary possession of the Lord)입니다. 스스로 선을 행할 수 있는 사람은 아무도 없기 때문에, 비록 기술, 즉 적기는 그렇게 적고 있지만, 그러나 의지나 마음은 사람의 것이 아닙니다. 탐욕(cupidity)이 사람의 것입니다. 흔히들 이걸 의지라고 하지만 말입니다. 의지는 생명나무가 있는 ‘동산 가운데’(the midst of the garden)인 반면, 사람한테는 의지는 전혀 없고, 대신 그저 탐욕만 있기 때문에, ‘생명나무’(the tree of lives)는 주님의 자비입니다. 주님은 모든 사랑과 신앙, 곧 모든 생명이 말미암는 분이십니다. The will, which in the Word is called the “heart,” is the primary possession of the Lord with man and angel. But as no one can do good of himself, the will or heart is not man’s, although it is predicated of man; cupidity, which he calls will, is man’s. Since then the will is the “midst of the garden,” where the tree of lives is placed, and man has no will, but mere cupidity, the “tree of lives” is the mercy of the Lord, from whom comes all love and faith, consequently all life.
