8, 9절, 여호와 하나님이 동방의 에덴에 동산을 창설하시고 그 지으신 사람을 거기 두시니라 And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man whom he had formed. 여호와 하나님이 그 땅에서 보기에 아름답고 먹기에 좋은 나무가 나게 하시니 동산 가운데에는 생명 나무와 선악을 알게 하는 나무도 있더라 And out of the ground made Jehovah God to grow every tree desirable to behold, and good for food; the tree of lives also, in the midst of the garden; and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

그 다음, ‘동방 에덴동산’(the garden in Eden, in the east)은 그의 지성을, ‘보기에 아름다운 나무’(the trees pleasant to the sight)는 진리에 관한 퍼셉션(perceptions, 知覺)을, ‘먹기에 좋은 나무’(the trees good for food)는 선에 관한 퍼셉션을 말합니다. ‘생명나무’(the tree of lives)는 사랑을, ‘선악을 알게 하는 나무’(the tree of knowledge [scientiae]), 곧 지식의 나무는 신앙을 의미합니다. (8-9절) Afterwards his intelligence is described by the garden in Eden, in the east; in which the trees pleasant to the sight are perceptions of truth, and the trees good for food are perceptions of good. Love is meant by the tree of lives, faith by the tree of knowledge [scientiae] (verses 8–9).

 

※ 퍼셉션(perception)이란 참 신비로운 것이어서 현 인류인 우리는 그 어떤 설명으로도 도저히 이해 불가한 그런 것입니다. 이것은 오직 태고교회인들에게만 허락된 특성이었는데, 그들은 후대로 갈수록 타락, 이 퍼셉션을 점점 잃어버리다가 완전히 잃어버린 상태가 되어 멸망하게 되었고, 그 모든 일련의 상황을 노아의 홍수로 표현한 것입니다. 이것이 있어야 인류는 주님과 계속 결합할 수가 있는데, 이게 사라지는 바람에 주님은 그 대용으로 사람에게 양심이라는 것을 허락, 비록 선대가 누리던 퍼셉션에 비하면 아주 탁하고 저급한 것이지만 이것과 말씀(the Word)으로 인류로 하여금 계속 주님과 결합할 수 있게 하신 것입니다. 지금도 천국의 천사들은 주님과 이 퍼셉션으로 커뮤니케이션하고 있습니다.
