그 영이 그렇게 스스로를 분리하면, 이번에는 선한 영들이 그를 맞이하는데, 이들 역시 마찬가지로 그가 자기들과 함께 있는 동안은 그에게 모든 친절한 보살핌을 제공합니다. 그러나 그가 세상 살 때 삶이 선한 사람들 가운데 머무르는 것조차 불편한 그런 것이었다면, 그는 이번에도 이들이 좀 어서 떠나가줬으면 합니다. 이런 과정은 반복, 또 반복, 결국 그가 세상 살 때 모습과 완전 딱 맞는 사람들을 만날 때까지 계속됩니다. 이때 그는 비로소 진정한 자기만의 삶을 찾은 것이지요. 이때부터 그는 정말 놀랍게도 그가 몸 안에 있을 때 살던 모습 그대로 그들 가운데서 살아갑니다. 그런 삶으로 마치 풀썩 쓰러지듯 돌아간 후, 그는 새로운 삶을 시작하는데요, 어떤 영들은 제법 오랜 시간이 걸려, 그리고 어떤 영들은 비교적 짧은 시간 안에, 지옥을 향해 준비됩니다. 반면, 주님 신앙 안에 있어 온 영들은 그들도 역시 그곳 새로운 삶으로부터 한 걸음 한 걸음, 그러나 이번에는 천국을 향해 인도됩니다. When the soul thus dissociates himself, he is received by good spirits, who likewise render him all kind offices while he is in their company. If however his life in the world has been such that he cannot remain in the company of the good, he desires to be rid of these also, and this process is repeated again and again, until he associates himself with those who are in full agreement with his former life in the world, among whom he finds as it were his own life. And then, wonderful to say, he leads with them a life like that which he had lived when in the body. But after sinking back into such a life, he makes a new beginning of life; and some after a longer time, some after a shorter, are from this borne on toward hell; but such as have been in faith toward the Lord are from that new beginning of life led step by step toward heaven.
