AC.214, 창3:7, '이에 그들의 눈이 밝아져'(AC.211-217)

7절, 이에 그들의 눈이 밝아져 자기들이 벗은 줄을 알고 무화과나무 잎을 엮어 치마로 삼았더라 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves girdles.

그들은 자신들의 본성만 남은 상태이기 때문에, ‘벌거벗겨졌다’(naked)고 합니다. 본성, 즉 자기 자신만 남은 사람들은 지성과 지혜, 혹은 신앙의 그 어떤 것도 더 이상 남아 있지 않은 상태이며, 그래서 결국 진리와 선에 대하여 ‘벌거벗겨진’(naked) 상태이고, 그 결과 악 안에 있는 상태이기 때문입니다. They are called “naked” because left to their own; for they who are left to their own, that is, to themselves, have no longer anything of intelligence and wisdom, or of faith, and consequently are “naked” as to truth and good, and are therefore in evil.

 

※ 즉, 우리는 주님의 진리와 선이라는 옷을 입어야 천국 갈 수 있는데, 반대로 이 옷이 다 벗겨져서 원래 모습인 악과 거짓의 알몸 상태가 되면 천국 갈 수 없다는 말입니다. 이런 일은 지금도 우리가 ‘선악과를 따먹으면’, 즉 주님의 거룩하신 일을 세상 지혜로 접근할 때 일어나는 일입니다.
