18절, 에녹이 이랏을 낳고 이랏은 므후야엘을 낳고 므후야엘은 므드사엘을 낳고 므드사엘은 라멕을 낳았더라 And unto Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begat Mehujael, and Mehujael begat Methusael, and Methusael begat Lamech.

이 이름들은 모두 ‘가인’(Cain)이라 하는 첫 이단에서 유래된 이단들을 말합니다. 이들에 관해서는 이름들밖에는 현존하는 무슨 아무 것도 없기 때문에, 이들에 대해 무슨 언급을 하는 건 적절치 않아 보입니다. 다만 이 이름들의 기원들을 가지고 뭔가 건질 수도 있을 것 같은데요, 예를 들면, ‘이랏’(Irad)은 ‘성의 후손’(he descends from a city)이라는 것, 그렇다면 ‘에녹’(Enoch)이라는 이단에서 비롯되었나? 뭐 그런 것입니다. All these names signify heresies derived from the first, which was called “Cain”; but as there is nothing extant respecting them, except the names, it is unnecessary to say anything about them. Something might be gathered from the derivations of the names; for example, “Irad” means that he “descends from a city,” thus from the heresy called “Enoch,” and so on.
