AC.366, 창4:8, '가인이 그의 아우 아벨에게 말하고' (AC.366-369)

8절, 가인이 그의 아우 아벨에게 말하고 그들이 들에 있을 때에 가인이 그의 아우 아벨을 쳐죽이니라 And Cain spake to Abel his brother; and it came to pass when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

Cain spake to Abel” signifies an interval of time. “Cain,” as before stated, signifies faith separated from love; and “Abel” charity, the brother of faith, on which account he is here twice called his “brother.” A “field” signifies whatever is of doctrine. “Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him” signifies that separated faith extinguished charity.
