AC.406, 창4:19, '라멕이 두 아내를 맞이하였으니' (AC.405-411)

19절, 라멕이 두 아내를 맞이하였으니 하나의 이름은 아다요 하나의 이름은 씰라였더라 And Lamech took unto him two wives; the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

‘라멕’이 황폐함, 즉 어떤 신앙도 없는 상태와 상응한다는 것은 이어지는 23, 24절을 보면 분명한데요, 거기 보면, ‘나의 상처로 말미암아 내가 사람을 죽였고 나의 상함으로 말미암아 소년을 죽였도다’(he slew a man to his wounding, and a little one to his hurt)라는 라멕의 말이 나오는데, 여기서 ‘사람’(a man)은 신앙과, ‘어린아이’(a little one), 즉 ‘소년’(a little child)은 체어리티(charity)와 상응하기 때문입니다. That by “Lamech” is signified vastation, or that there was no faith, is evident from the following verses (23–24), in which it is said that he “slew a man to his wounding, and a little one to his hurt”; for there, by a “man” is meant faith, and by a “little one” or “little child,” charity.

 

23라멕이 아내들에게 이르되 아다와 씰라여 내 목소리를 들으라 라멕의 아내들이여 내 말을 들으라 나의 상처로 말미암아 내가 사람을 죽였고 나의 상함으로 말미암아 소년을 죽였도다 24가인을 위하여는 벌이 칠 배일진대 라멕을 위하여는 벌이 칠십칠 배이리로다 하였더라 (창4:23, 24)
